Using Online Banking

The requirements for access to an online banking service vary from bank to bank, however the basic requirements for almost all services currently available are a home computer with internet access.

To get set up to access online banking your first step will be to register for the service with your current bank. The bank will need to authorise your account for online banking access and will often supply you with a special password or number to remember - your online banking ID. Once you have this information, you should be able to access online banking almost immediately.

A number of banks also offer access to special software for your home computer that will allow you to integrate the online banking service with popular home accounting software, such as Microsoft Money, or offer the facility to download information in certain formats that are compatible with programs like Lotus 1-2-3 or Microsoft Excel.
