Banking
Most larger building societies in the UK also offer more traditional banking services alongside their primary business of mortgages and loans. These services are aimed at encouraging people to save their money with the building society, thereby increasing the size of the mortgage fund available to lenders.
Bank accounts from building societies are generally the same as those from banks, although they often pay a higher rate of interest on savings. For more information of bank and building society account types, please see our bank account types guide.
